It’s a strange feeling to say this already, but this weekend is the last weekend of our Rhythm Rust & Static tour.
After seven months of not touring at all, getting back out there has been amazing. We didn’t realise quite how much we’d missed it until we were standing on a stage again.
If we’re being completely open though, it’s also been more challenging than we expected.
Over the last few months we’ve been learning how to wear a lot of different hats. There’s obviously our biggest new one being Mum and Dad to Bobby alongside releasing Rhythm Rust & Static and everything that comes with running this band independently.
Because we don’t have a Label, Manager, Booking Agent or Promoter when we’re not on stage we’re usually somewhere behind the scenes making sure orders are going out, sorting pre-orders, planning releases, organising tours and generally keeping all the wheels turning. Then suddenly it’s time to put all of that down, pick up a guitar and violin and walk onto a stage
We’ve realised that switching between those different parts of our lives takes a bit more brain space than it used to! But the moment we get on stage, something changes.
Playing live is such a huge part of who we are. There’s an energy and excitement we get from those couple of hours that we just don’t get anywhere else, and after seven months away from it, we know more than ever how much we need it in our lives. So this first tour back has meant a lot to us.
Thank you to everyone who has come out to a show, travelled to see us, chatted to us afterwards or simply been part of this next chapter with us. It’s been pretty special.
We’ve got Newbury and Northampton left this weekend, and then we’ll be putting the touring hat down again for a few weeks… before the big six-piece The Backbone Tour starts at the end of November.
We have a feeling switching that hat back on next time is going to be a little easier.
See you out there...
Much Love
Grace & Aaron x
